Highly Available

Taskmatics Scheduler was designed from the ground up with high availability in mind.

Taskmatics Scheduler has two core components:

  • Coordinator
  • Agent

The Coordinator is the central component of Taskmatics Scheduler. All configuration information regarding tasks, schedules and triggers is stored and managed through the Coordinator. It is responsible for the overall dispatching of tasks (via one or more agents) and the general orchestration of the system.

Taskmatics Scheduler’s Agent component is responsible for managing the execution of the various tasks dispatched from the Coordinator. There can be one or more agents installed (one per machine) and linked to a Coordinator in a Taskmatics Scheduler configuration. If a particular agent goes down, the coordinator will dispatch tasks to other agents if they are available. This helps protect against system failures and scheduled upgrades.
